Social Work since 2009

Leadership in Care and Neuropsychiatric Services (LSS)

As an assistant unit manager within personal assistance and LSS (Swedish support services for individuals with disabilities), I was responsible for leading and supporting staff teams, ensuring high-quality care, and creating structured, safe environments for individuals with extensive support needs. This role included close collaboration with families, schools, healthcare services, and social services, as well as responsibilities in planning, scheduling, recruitment, and work environment. Here, I developed a strong ability to see the whole person – in relation to both systems and life circumstances.

Support for Children and Youth in Vulnerable Situations

In my roles as coordinator at a special resource school and as a social worker in child and youth services, I supported children and adolescents experiencing school absenteeism, mental health challenges, and protection needs. I worked with assessments, intervention plans, and motivational interviewing, maintaining close communication with guardians, school staff, child psychiatry services (BUP), and other stakeholders. My focus was on creating stable daily routines, building self-esteem, and finding sustainable long-term solutions. I have also worked with lifestyle and behavioral changes as a personal trainer, with a focus on how physical health influences mental well-being.

Coaching in Occupational Health and Neuropsychiatry

As a work coach in programs for individuals with neuropsychiatric conditions, I supported young adults in approaching working life. By mapping their strengths and challenges, coaching social and professional skills, and collaborating with employers, I helped foster increased independence, individuality and joy in the workplace.

In my work within Human Resources and occupational health, I collaborated closely with managers and leadership teams to develop sustainable work practices and healthy workplaces. I managed recruitment processes, labor law issues, and onboarding of new employees. This gave me strong insight into organizational needs, the importance of leadership, and how mental health is affected by our work environment and role identity.

Health and Lifestyle Change, A Foundation for Sustainable Well-Being

My previous experience as a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach at Curves has provided me with practical insight into how individualized exercise, nutritional guidance, and lifestyle changes can support both physical and mental health. In my work with clients, the focus was on creating sustainable habits, increasing energy, and strengthening self-esteem. I now integrate these experiences into my therapeutic practice.

Bachelor Degree in Social Work

My social work education at Södertörn University provided me with an in-depth understanding of how social factors, such as violence, substance abuse, mental illness, and financial vulnerability, impact people’s lives. The program included law (e.g., children’s rights, the Social Services Act, the Care of Young Persons Act), ethics, and social psychology, along with analysis of how gender, class, ethnicity, and age intersect. This has given me a stable foundation for understanding complex life situations.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, I have acquired theoretical models and evidence-based interventions, along with a deep understanding of how patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior are formed, maintained, and transformed over time. I hold specialized knowledge in the treatment of anxiety disorders, ambivalence, depression, phobias, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), health anxiety, insomnia, mild substance and behavioral addictions, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, procrastination, psychosis, psychosomatic pain, relationship difficulties, social anxiety, grief, stress and burnout, eating disorders, and personality-related challenges. The training also included individualized therapy for neurodevelopmental conditions.

Counselling and Crisis Management

I am trained to support individuals in crisis, grief, trauma, and major life changes by Sverigehälsan. The focus of my work is to understand psychological reactions and to create a sense of safety and stability in the therapeutic setting. I use both conversational techniques and CBT strategies to help clients process intense emotions such as guilt, anxiety, or sorrow, and to find structure and meaning following a difficult life event. I also have deep knowledge in de-escalating conflict, promoting self-regulation, and creating safe, predictable environments, through additional training in low-affective approaches by Bo Hejlskov,

Through my CBT-education and Stockholm University I gained additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I help clients live in alignment with their values, even when life is painful. The focus is on increasing psychological flexibility, reducing self-criticism, and building self-compassion. Mindfulness practices are integrated to enhance present-moment awareness, reduce emotional reactivity, and restore balance in everyday life. These tools are especially effective in working with anxiety, low mood, stress, and relapse prevention.

Motivational Interviewing and Behavioral Change

In addition, I am trained in Motivational Interviewing (MI), a client-centered method that strengthens motivation for change. With the ability to address ambivalence, reduce resistance, and support clients in taking steps toward transformation, I apply MI in areas such as health, lifestyle, stress, and addiction.

I also work with identifying and changing the cognitive and emotional processes that maintain mild substance use issues. With training in the treatment of mild dependency problems, through Malmö University and Sverigehälsan—my focus is on strengthening individual motivation, building relapse prevention strategies, and increasing psychological flexibility to promote long-term sustainable change.

Integrated Health, Mind and Body in Synergy

I am also trained in physical health, fitness, and body therapy, which complements my psychotherapeutic work. I am a certified massage therapist through Axelsons Gymnastiska Institut and have studied for three years at the Scandinavian College of Chiropractic. There, I gained extensive knowledge in anatomy, physiology, neurology, pathology, and clinical diagnostics. This background has provided me with a profound understanding of the body’s signals, tension patterns, and the relationship between physical and mental health.

I am also a certified personal trainer (EQF Level 4, EuropeActive/EREPS) through Intensive PT and a certified nutrition coach through IntensiveKost. I have the skills to design individualized training and nutrition plans for goals such as weight loss, increased strength, rehabilitation, performance, and mental recovery. I am particularly interested in how exercise and nutrition can support mental health in cases of depression, burnout, or low self-esteem.

Couples Therapy

I am trained in couples therapy with a cognitive behavioral (CBT) orientation through Sverigehälsan. The focus is on helping couples rebuild trust, intimacy, and secure attachment. Using evidence-based tools, I support couples in improving communication, managing conflict, and rediscovering connection. The work is grounded in a safe and respectful therapeutic environment where both partners are given space to grow.

Prolonged Exposure

Through advanced training at the University of Pennsylvania under the direction of Dr. Edna Foa (founder of Prolonged Exposure), I have specialized in the treatment of PTSD. Prolonged Exposure is a structured and well-established method that helps clients process traumatic memories in a controlled and safe way. The work is carried out within an ethical framework, with a strong emphasis on emotion regulation, gradual exposure, and the restoration of a sense of control.

Schema Therapy

Schema therapy is an integrative approach that combines CBT, psychodynamic theory, and gestalt therapy. I have completed training at the Swedish Institute for CBT (CBTI) and work with identifying and transforming dysfunctional life schemas—deep-seated patterns often rooted in childhood that impact self-image, relationships, and emotional needs. Schema therapy is particularly well suited for individuals who feel that traditional talk therapy has not reached the deeper obstacles to change.

Ongoing Master’s Studies

I am currently deepening my expertise through master’s-level studies, focusing on physical, psychological, sexual, and financial abuse. These studies enhance my knowledge in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and long-term recovery for individuals affected by violence. Emphasis is placed on recognizing and addressing trauma symptoms, while creating safety and sustainable solutions on both individual and systemic levels.
